Enter the world of THE jam. Here that of Chestnuts. Yes, you can tell us, there is no better than that of my grandmother, that of my mom ... Why not, if we remove the subjective side of this judgment.

On the other hand, we can tell you, taste the sisters' jams and you will find this forgotten taste, a mixture of know-how, tradition and moments of sharing. And we're not talking about the strawberry-banana for (tall) children.

Making jams at Notre Dame des Gardes abbey

We started making jams for sale around 1965, then processing the various fruits from our orchards. Then, from 1994, we gradually reduced fruit production and developed the production of jams by working with purchased fruit. The making of "old-fashioned jam and jelly" is now our main economic activity.

Our workshop remains very traditional to safeguard the quality of our jam. While seeking to lighten the work by using today's equipment, we are working to keep the characteristics of the "jam of our grandmothers": the jam is prepared over two days, with prior maceration of the fruits in sugar. The cooking is done uncovered, without adding gelling agent: this supposes a careful choice of fruits since the jam "takes" with only the pectin contained in the fruit.
